EVANSVILLE HOME TALENT LOSES TWO TO ORFORDVILLE

On Sunday, May 20th the Evansville Jays made the short trip down Hwy 213 to play hosts the Orfordville Orioles. The intriguing match up of the game was the two starting pictures, Brent Cashore (Evansville) and Joe Cox (Orfordville), who are teammates on UW-Platteville's Baseball Team. Unfortunately for the Jays, Cox may have had a career best all-round game by striking out eight Evansville batters in the complete game shutout and going 4 for 4 with two doubles.

Evansville only managed to squeeze out two hits. Nic Larson singled in the 3rd and Brookes Bamberger hit a double off the fence to lead off the top of the seventh inning. Next batter after Bamberger, Cashore, walked, so Evansville had runners on first and second with no outs, but was unable to capitalize. Cox struck out the next two batters and pitched a ground out to shut down Evansville.

On Thursday, May 17th the Night League season started for Evansville in Orfordville. The Orioles beat the Jays, 7-1. Evansville's only run came in the fourth inning when Jeremy Rasmussen lead off the inning with a base hit, and a couple of batters later, Baumberger singled. He was followed by a double from Cashore to score Rasmussen.

Thursday, May 24th Evansville travels to New Glarus for a Night League game. Sunday, May 27th Evansville travels to Lake Mills and then returns home to the High School's Stan Sperry Field for a big Memorial Day Game on Monday, May 28th against Albion starting at 1:00 pm. There will be a DJ announcer during the game for announcing and playing music between innings. Flags will be presented during the National Anthem by Evansville's VFW Post 6905.
