GAME REPORTS
On Sunday, June 24th Evansville Home Talent Baseball Team traveled
to Utica to play Cambridge. The Jays beat Cambridge 11 to 1 in 8
innings as the 10-run rule was applied. Evansville's leading hitter
in the game was Ryan Lindemann going 2 for 3. Jeremy Rasmussen and
Brent Cashore lead the team with 2 RBI's each.
On Wednesday, June 27th the Jays played a Night League rain out
game from May 24th at New Glarus. Evansville won that contest 7
to 4 with leading hitters from Brent Cashore (2x3, 3B, HR) and Davis
Pryce (2x3). The highlight of the game was on Cashore's inside the
park 2-run home run.
On Thursday, June 28th Evansville hosted New Glarus at Leota Park.
The game ended in dramatic fashion in extra innings with the Jays
coming out on top. In the bottom of the 8th inning with the score
New Glarus 5, Evansville 4; with 2 outs and runners at second and
third, Jerry Woods hit a base hit to score both runners to win the
game 6 to 5. Leading hitters for Evansville were Brent Cashore (2x4,
2 2B), Nick Larson (3x4) and Brian Cashore (2x3, 3B).

On Sunday, July 1st the Evansville Jays traveled to Albion in a
Southeast Section Home Talent baseball game. The game was close
most of the game until Albion scored 4 runs in the last three innings
to beat the Jays 5 to 1. The Jays only run came in the fourth when
Jon Frey lead off the inning with a base hit, a stolen base and
a couple of batters later Brookes Baumberger hit a two out base
hit to score Frey from second. Albion pitching was tough on Evansville's
batters. The other two hits in the game for Evansville were by Nick
Manion.

On Wednesday, July 4th, after the parade at the Lake Leota Park
Fourth of July Festival the Home Talent game between Evansville
and Stoughton was the main event with quite a large crowd gathering
at the game. The Jays scored first in the bottom of the first inning
with two outs when Brent Cashore hit a single and later stole second
base while Brookes Baumberger was at bat. Later in the pitch count,
Baumberger scored Cashore on a base hit. Stoughton answered with
2 runs in the third. Then Evansville tied the game at two in the
bottom half of the third when Craig Paton walked then advanced to
second on a fielder's choice. Paton scored when Jon Frey reached
on a two base error by Stoughton's leftfielder. In the bottom of
the fifth inning the Jays took the lead when Frey led off the inning
with a single. Two outs later and with Frey on second after a stolen
base, Nick Manion hit an RBI base hit. Evansville 3 Stoughton 2.
Stoughton's relief pitcher, Tyler Wilberg, eventually won the game
for Stoughton as he held Evansville scoreless after the fifth inning,
and he went 2 for 2 at the plate driving in 4 RBIs. Final score
Stoughton 6 Evansville 3. Evansville out hit Stoughton 12 to 7,
but the Jays had 4 errors in the game.

On Sunday, July 8th, Evansville returned to the Utica field to
play Utica. The Jays had a tough bottom of the 2nd inning when Utica
scored 7 runs; all after 2 outs. Evansville battled back in the
top of the 3rd inning. Wade Janes singled, Jasen Koebler walked,
and Jeremy Rasmussen hit a base hit to load the bases. Next batter,
Jon Frey hit an infield base hit to score Janes. Koebler scored
on Brent Cashore's fielder's choice, and later Rasmussen scored
on a pass ball. Utica's pitcher was strong in the complete game
despite the near 100 degree heat index by striking out 10 and scattering
only 5 hits by the Jays. Final score Utica 10 Evansville 3.
Evansville Home Talent Baseball will travel to Mt. Horeb to play
Pine Bluff in a Night League game on Thursday, July 12. The Jays
are still on the road for a game at Deerfield on Sunday, July 15.
The next home game for Evansville is Thursday, July 19 at Leota
Park starting at 7:30 pm against Monroe. The July 19 game is Youth
Baseball Night. Young Evansville baseball players and fans are welcomed
to the park to get player autographs, play catch with the players,
run the scoreboard, and grab free foul balls. There will be a DJ
